Granite is denser as compared to marble. It's formed in the earth's core. At the same time, marble is formed after the sedimentation under the seabed. Apart from that, both are known to solidify within a few years. They do have the presence of different minerals, which is why they react to other materials differently.

Marbles are suitable for different places like shelves, saddles, tabletops, and fireplaces. Moreover, it can be used for other sites like floors, shower paneling, vanities, etc.

Here are a few basic yet essential factors to keep in mind for the maintenance part:

  • Make sure marble is dusted with a cloth or untreated mop.
  • Make sure any spill is cleaned right away.
  • Always use the cutting board for countertop applications.

“Natural Stone” refers to a number of products quarried from the earth, used over many thousands of years as building materials and decorative enhancements. These products include marble, granite, slate, quartz, limestone, travertine, shellstone and onyx. Natural stone is hand selected from the best, most consistent sources for durability and beauty.
Natural stone products differ in composition, colour, and texture even among pieces from the same source. This is a vast benefit, lending itself to one of a kind designs and distinctive, dramatic applications

Stone surfaces are very easy to maintain. Simple care and maintenance will help preserve your stone’s beauty for generations to come.

Daily Maintenance
  • Do clean dust, dirt from floor once or twice daily with a dust mop or vacuum.
  • Damp mop or spot clean as necessary, using a pH neutral marble cleaner.
  • Damp mop all areas with clean, warm water at least daily to remove fine dust.
  • Frequency of dry mop depends on traffic e.g. home users – 1 to 2 times in a day and commercial place – 2 to 3 times.
  • Allow to dry before putting surface back into use.

Periodic Maintenance
A) Home Users
  • Buff with premium liquid wax polish once in 6 months.
  • Polish using marble polishing powder with scrubbing machine once in 1-2 years.

B) Commercial Users
  • Buff with liquid wax polish once a month depending on traffic.
  • Polish using marble polishing powder with scrubbing machine once in 6 – 12 months. Frequency may be increased or decreased depending upon traffic pattern.

Natural Stone has no limitation on the area of application. Different stones maybe suggest for different applications. Limestones, Granites and Travertines are better suited for facades whereas marbles look flawless in interiors. The properties of stones vary with different geographical territories of origin and their chemical properties. The selection of the colour and character can be purely based on design and where one wants to use. There are different installation methods and precautionary

Natural stone’s develop cracks primarily due to primitive installation methods. If installed properly i.e. A levelled substrate and right installation methods, avoiding air pockets and water retention below the surface of stone, you can avoid development of cracks post-installation. Correct processing with the right chemicals and sealants is very important to avoid these issues. With our specialised Process 360, you can minimise the impact of these anomalies.

Both marble and granite are natural stones with incredible beauty and durability that add a lot of value to your home. Both are rather pricey and require sealing to protect from staining from water or other liquids.
Marble is a metamorphic/sedimentary rock with veining of minerals. It comes primarily in white or black, although other variations are available. Marble is porous and can be stained by liquids or etched from contact with acids.
Granite is a metamorphic/igneous natural rock. It is granular and has a wide variety of colours and patterns including flecks, veins, and solids. Granite is harder than marble and less likely to scratch or chip. Granite is generally less expensive than marble and lower maintenance.

Limestone sometimes undergoes extreme heat and pressure near igneous granite, generally along tectonic plate boundaries around the world. The rock is transformed by the recrystallization of certain minerals in the rock. In addition, the original carbonate minerals change into calcite. This results in a beautiful “interlocking carbonate crystal mosaic.”
The different varieties of marble come from different minerals that are present during the process, changing the marble’s pattern and colour.
